Coupling between a Weyl semimetal and a nontopological metal

We study the effects of tunneling between a Weyl semimetal (WSM) and simple parabolic band. When coupled to nonmagnetic band, interface two exhibits main phenomena. First, WSM's chiral arc state lowers in energy, second, previously extended WSM becomes localized is lowered energy. Together these surface bound states create new closed orbit momentum space, noticeable spin-dependent asymmetry spectrum vicinity nodes appears. with lattice model that we solve numerically on finite sample analytically using an Ansatz infinite sample. Our agrees very well numerical simulation as it accurately describes behavior state, from its energy spin rotation at interface. find effectively increases Fermi length, allowing for presence beyond bare nodes. These additional may carry current along interface, their contribution can be detected conductance. In addition conductivity, effect metal seen quantum oscillation experiments, which briefly address.
